ECPMF and Hostwriter launch collaborative exchange platform for journalists in exile

ECPMF is formally launching its collaboration with Hostwriter to implement a closed exchange platform for journalists and media workers in exile in Germany.

[vc_row][vc_column width="2/3"][vc_column_text](Leipzig, Germany – 11 May 2023) Today, ECPMF is formally launching its collaboration with Hostwriter to implement a closed exchange platform for journalists and media workers in exile in Germany. The collaboration is taking place within the framework of ECPMF’s "Opportunities in Exile" project which expands the organisation's existing offers for journalists in exile with the primary goal of enabling long-term professional future opportunities and social participation.

The closed exchange platform is being launched together with Hostwriter, an open network with over 6000 members that helps journalists to easily collaborate across borders. The platform supports members to improve and diversify the quality of media coverage by providing local contacts around the globe.

“Thanks to Hostwriter's platform and expertise we were able to create a space for journalists in exile in Germany to network with each other. We are hopeful that the information and resources shared in the group will support the journalists’ ability to access the resources they need to continue their vital work in Germany”, says Katrin Schatz, Project Manager Practical Support at ECPMF.

ECPMF currently implements a private group on Hostwriter to provide and share information that is specifically relevant for media professionals who are living in exile in Germany. Members can use this group to interact and network with each other, learn about new opportunities and receive and share information on various topics.

“We are very happy to welcome more organisations joining the Hostwriter network with their specific groups of journalists, to offer support and space for connection and networking. The collaboration with ECPMF is a clear win-win situation, where Hostwriter provides infrastructure and ECPMF provides their support and expertise, particularly, for exiled journalists in Germany,” says Julia Vernerrson, Hostwriter’s Co-managing Director.
